The bourbon barrel aged stout is a great beer for those cold, winter nights. If you were late on the draw picking one up, try one of these instead. Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout This offering from Founder's is a classic. At one time, it was limited just the same as Bourbon County but now it is available year round. Like Bourbon County, this has big chocolate and coffee notes imparted from the malt. The whiskey comes through and helps round this out to a great beer. It gets even better as it warms in the glass. Deschutes The Abyss The Abyss is another one that is available year-round. This one has Bourbon vanilla, coffee and even some dark fruit notes on the nose. It follows on the palate with some chocolate and fudge notes. Prairie BOMB! BOMB! is a household name for barrel aged stout fans. There is a ton of the quintessential coffee, chocolate, and vanilla that you would expect from this style. They brew this with ancho chili peppers that you get a hint of on the back end. Prairie Razzle Dazzle If you had a chance to try the Bourbon County Backyard variant from 2023, this one might be the most similar. There is a ton of raspberry and chocolate on this that is followed by the Bourbon barrel. If you're chasing after that barrel-aged fruited stout, grab one of these! $0.00 Product Name If you have a beer lover on your Christmas list, grab one of these for them. Like Bourbon County, all of these are worthy of cellaring. I like to buy a pack and set one back from each one and let it age so that when I buy another pack, I can taste them side by side and see how time has affected the liquid. Of course, this is the time of year that most breweries are releasing a plethora of Bourbon barrel-aged stout that aren't included here and are in limited supply, so be sure to come by the shop and take a look at all the seasonal offerings that we have.
