Spring has sprung and I couldn't be happier! Warmer temps, budding trees, blooming flowers and spritzy cocktails! This is a beautiful time of year in Arkansas, and spritzy cocktails are light and refreshing. They can be tart or on the sweeter side, and the effervescence makes them dangerously gluggable! I lean toward the bitter side of spritzy cocktails, but no judgment if you're into the sweeter things!
The one that I will be making, and remaking, and remaking this spring is the Americano! It takes one of my favorite cocktails, the Negroni, and subs the gin for Fever Tree club soda for a super refreshing quaffable cocktail.
- 1 ½ oz. Campari
- 1 ½ oz. Carpano Antica vermouth
- Splash of Fever Tree club soda
Pour the Campari and vermouth over ice and add a splash of soda water. Garnish with an orange slice and enjoy!
The next fizzy delicious cocktail is one of the classics: the Gin Fizz. I love mine with an egg white for extra frothy texture. This riff is called a Silver Fizz and it's something everyone should be drinking this spring!
- 2 oz. Roxor gin
- ¼ oz. fresh lemon juice
- ¼ oz. simple syrup
- 1 egg white
- 3 oz. Fever Tree club soda
- Luxardo Maraschino cherry for garnish
Dry shake the egg white and simple syrup vigorously for about 15 seconds. Add the remaining ingredients and ice and shake for another 15-20 seconds. Double strain into a highball glass with ice and top with soda. Garnish with cherry.
