Guten tag! It's that time of year again! Oktoberfest is upon us. The 185th festival begins this year on September 22nd and ends October 7th. We have a plethora of Marzen lagers (the true name of Oktoberfest beers) to choose from. Old King Ludwig would jump for joy if he could see (and taste) all the beers we offer! I'll just be focusing on the Marzens new to Arkansas. Take a look at my blog from last year to see the traditional German lagers we offer.
With Yuengling making its debut in Arkansas this year, I was quite surprised to see us get this beer. But I'm glad we did. It's an awesome representation of the style. This one reminds me of the Aiynger Marzen the most. If you want a good American version of an Oktoberfest style, this is the beer for you.
Karbach Brewing Karbachtoberfest
Karbach has made quite an impression since they came into our market this year. This beer is no exception. Using Vienna and Munich malts, this Marzen stays true to the Bavarian tradition and is worth trying!
Rahr & Sons Brewing Oktoberfest
Another new addition to our market, Rahr & Sons does some great stuff and makes some killer seasonal releases. This beer is awesome – a no frills, traditional Marzen. I will be enjoying this one as long as it is available.
Come by and grab a six pack of one of these awesome beers. If you're looking to celebrate officially, head to Little Rocktoberfest at Dickey Stephens Park in North Little Rock on September 22 – the first official day of Oktoberfest! I went to this last year and had an absolute blast. Tickets are available here, littlerocktoberfest.com. As always, you can follow Colonial on UNTAPPD to see what we have to offer and my personal UNTAPPD (jliddy09) to see beers I've been trying lately.
