A TAILGATING TODDY

Maggie Walters

September is upon us, which means a couple of things: it’s tailgating season AND it’s Bourbon Heritage Month! We are so exited that we’ve decided to combine the two for this blog.

Here's a boozy punch perfect for serving at your next tailgate. When you hear the word "punch", you may get images of classy bowls and floating lumps of sherbet drifting into ladles, but let me assure you this is not your grandma’s punch (although we greatly encourage you to pour her a glass!)

TAILGATING WHISKEY PUNCH

  • 12 oz. Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon

  • 6 oz. Pimm's No. 1

  • 4 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice

  • 4 1/2 oz. simple syrup

  • lemon wheels for garnish

Instructions:

Here’s the great thing about this sophisticated yet easy cocktail: simply mix the ingredients together in your serving container of choice ahead of time (a spigot cooler works just fine). When you’re ready to impress your guests with the punch, add ice to the container, pop some lemon wheels into serving glasses (aka red solo cups), pour punch into said cups and top with club soda. The ratio of whiskey mixture to club soda can be manipulated to make a stronger or weaker drink depending on your guests’ preference!
